As a leading information technology integrated solutions enterprise and the primary ticketing platform in Hong Kong and Macau, Cityline has been actively exploring the blue ocean of cultural and entertainment ticketing between Mainland China and Hong Kong in recent years, signing cooperation agreements with various renowned mainland enterprises. Most recently, Cityline has become the first Hong Kong ticketing platform to launch on Huawei's HarmonyOS. The two parties held a HarmonyOS ecosystem cooperation signing ceremony at the Huawei Shenzhen Base on 18 May, officially kicking off their partnership and marking a new chapter in Cityline's expansion into the mainland market.
Mr Marcus Lam, Executive Director and General Manager of Cityline, led a team of company representatives to attend the ceremony at the Huawei Shenzhen Base. They met with Mr Tan Yu, President of the Overseas Business and Solutions Department of Huawei Device Cloud Services and Mr Li Yong, Operations Director of the Overseas Centre at Huawei Device Cloud Service. On the same day, they visited Songshanhu Area, ’the high-tech development zone in Dongguan—the Ox Horn Campus (Huawei R&D Centre)—for a fruitful exchange of ideas.
At the Huawei Shenzhen Base, both parties shared their development plans for Cityline and HarmonyOS. Mr Marcus Lam pointed out, "We have extensive experience collaborating with theatres across the Greater Bay Area (GBA), with service points spanning Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Dongguan, and Foshan. By launching on HarmonyOS, Cityline provides mainland users with information and ticketing services, tailored payment methods for the mainland market, and over 30 physical ticket collection points across the Mainland. This creates a more comprehensive online-to-offline experience, allowing users to collect their tickets in the Mainland before departing for Hong Kong."
Catering to the Travel Preferences of Greater Bay Area Residents
"Furthermore, we have observed a shift in the travel and leisure preferences of GBA residents visiting Hong Kong. Therefore, we are closely following market demands to promote Hong Kong's cultural activities. For example, we have introduced four major family-friendly destinations on our platform, including the highly popular Yau Ma Tei Police Station, which just opened earlier this year."
Mr Tan Yu, President of the Overseas Business and Solutions Department of Huawei Device Cloud Services stated, "To ensure domestic users have an excellent overseas experience, we aim to elevate the consumption concept and provide information on new attractions. With Huawei acting as the platform, Cityline delivers information on performances and events, along with a seamless ticketing and payment experience."
Following the launch of the Cityline ticketing app on the HarmonyOS AppGallery, mainland users can directly access the Cityline platform to purchase tickets for cultural, arts, and entertainment programmes across Hong Kong, Macau, and the broader GBA, as well as admission tickets to tourist attractions in Hong Kong and Macau. In addition to the ticketing experience, Cityline offers diverse payment methods for users in Hong Kong, Macau, and the Mainland. Mainland audiences can purchase tickets on the platform using UnionPay, Alipay, and WeChat Pay, while the Hong Kong and Macau markets are covered by various payment methods, including credit cards and different e-wallets, providing comprehensive convenience for users across the regions.
Additionally, Cityline has established over 30 physical ticket collection points across the GBA. For mainland residents planning to visit Hong Kong for performances or tourism, they can now collect their tickets in the Mainland before their departure, facilitating early travel arrangements.
Creating a Brand-New Cultural and Entertainment Ticketing Experience in the Greater Bay Area
During the long Labour Day holiday, Huawei's "SkyTone" – an application designed to facilitate global internet access for users travelling abroad – also integrated Cityline's services. This means that Huawei mobile and web users can browse performances and events provided by Cityline directly through SkyTone and enter the app to purchase their desired tickets.
Following the signing ceremony, the Cityline team visited the Huawei Ox Horn Campus in the afternoon, gained on-site insights into the development and daily operations of the tech giant. Looking ahead, as an IT integrated solutions enterprise, Cityline will join forces with Huawei in both technology and content. We will continue to launch more innovative services, bringing a brand-new, integrated online-to-offline experience to HarmonyOS users in the Mainland, Hong Kong, and Macau, achieving precise information distribution and driving consumer traffic.
