This year marks the 22nd China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF). As a key sub-venue in the Bao'an District, the Bay Opera of Shenzhen raised its curtains on 20 May under the theme “Art Without Borders, Five Years of Dedication”, dedicated to promoting artistic performance exchanges across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, while blending Chinese and international cultures. Cultural and artistic performance groups from Hong Kong, Macao, and the Mainland attended the launch ceremony. Notably, Cityline signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for cooperation with the Bay Opera of Shenzhen, representing both parties' commitment to enhancing the ticketing and payment experience within the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and realising the vision of a cultural and performing arts community across the region.

During the ICIF, the Bay Opera of Shenzhen specially introduced 6 premium productions with a total of 66 performances, spanning a diverse range of genres including musicals, instrumental recitals, and choral music. Among the series of performances this season, the original London West End musical “Matilda” took centre stage. Running from 1 May to 21 June in the Opera Hall for a consecutive 61 performances, it set a record for the highest number of musical performance sessions in the province. Tickets for this acclaimed production were made available for public sale on the Cityline platform.

Travelling to Shenzhen for theatre has gradually become a new lifestyle trend in the Greater Bay Area. People's Daily pointed out that the Bay Opera of Shenzhen serves as a primary theatre for introducing Hong Kong performance projects into the GBA. The proportion of audience members from Hong Kong and Macao has remained stable at over 30%, and Hong Kong and Macao projects account for more than 70% of the “Art Narratives” Bay Area Performance Season, reflecting the arts centre's pivotal role in fostering cultural integration within the region. Moving forward, Cityline will remain dedicated to promoting and participating in performances and exchanges across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, further driving artistic harmony among the three regions.
