Travelling to the Mainland has become a daily routine for Hong Kongers. This trend is no longer limited to dining and leisure; it has recently expanded into the realm of arts and culture, with cross-border appreciation of theatrical plays and performances sparking a new wave of excitement. As a major local ticketing platform, Cityline has established partnerships with multiple theatres in Shenzhen. Recently, at the invitation of the Pingshan Theatre in Shenzhen, Cityline collaborated to launch a pioneering one-stop chartered bus service for cross-border theatregoing, further driving the trend of northbound cultural exchange. Looking ahead, Cityline will continue to partner with more mainland theatres, allowing Hong Kongers to easily travel north to enjoy a diverse range of performance programmes.

Having successfully forged partnerships with mainland theatres, Cityline has curated a new Shenzhen theatregoing experience for Hong Kongers. In early March, a cross-border direct bus was arranged to transport audiences straight from Hong Kong to the Shenzhen Pingshan Theatre to enjoy the major 2026 dance drama “Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby". Departing from Kwun Tong, dozens of audience members embarked on the journey with a sense of novelty and excitement, experiencing the joy of a seamless northbound theatre trip. Passengers sat back and relaxed on the direct bus to the boundary control point; after alighting for immigration clearance, they boarded the same bus. The entire journey took just around two hours, arriving directly outside the culturally vibrant Pingshan Theatre.

After snapping photos outside the venue, the audience filed into the theatre. The venue was bustling with energy, filled with theatregoers from both the Mainland and Hong Kong. As the audience prepared to leave after the performance, they were treated to a surprise appearance by several of the international lead actors, who took photos and signed autographs with fans outside the theatre, bringing the entire viewing experience to a perfect close. Hong Kong audiences who participated in the event noted that they had not expected this one-stop theatregoing experience to be so convenient and efficient. Boarding the bus in downtown Hong Kong and arriving directly at the theatre eliminates the hassle of transferring, allowing them to focus entirely on enjoying the show.

In addition to launching the one-stop northbound theatregoing experience, Cityline is also deeply committed to promoting cultural exchange and integration within the Greater Bay Area. The company's management led a delegation of approximately 40 founders, producers, and backstage crew members from various Hong Kong arts organisations. Travelling via chartered bus, the delegation visited the Bay Opera of Shenzhen and the Pingshan Theatre to exchange ideas with the respective theatre directors, conducting site visits to understand the facilities and operations of mainland theatres. During the tour, the arts groups raised a variety of questions regarding performing in mainland venues. Cityline's management and theatre representatives provided detailed answers to each query, paving the way for these arts groups to bring their outstanding programmes to the stage in Shenzhen in the future.
